Biography

Bolero is a band formed in the Durham region combining the writing styles of Morgan Rider (Mastery, ex-Atomicy), Colin Webster (ex-Nocturnity), Al Usher (ex-Pushing Up Daisies), and Alex Woods (ex. Torn Black). They draw from a very wide span of influences, including: neoclassical, folk, viking, progressive, black, melodic/ technical death, troll, pirate, and whatever the fuck else you can think of metal. With each member contributing to the writing process, Bolero is sure to bring something new to the local music scene.

Bolero - a devastating onslaught of neoclassical blackened folk metal with a lyrical concept based around heathenistic worldview, crushes the boundaries of modern metal alongside their expansive list of contemporaries from which they draw their influence. Catchy melodies melded with memorable structures, hardened with solid riffage and miles of upbeat drumwork. Epic keyboard layers thoughtfully forged with the solid array of metal riffing and lead work overtop of the crushing rhythmic bass and drumwork, complimented with venomous vocals and clean vocal breaks.

It all started back in Courtice, Ontario, in the hot summer days of 2005. Morgan Rider (Mastery) and Kyle Hammer (Lurker) forged a side-project called Dark Abyss in hopes that it would give the local extreme metal/ black metal fanbase something new to talk about. Original material was composed, but the idea never once took the stage. Later on down the road, the concept of the band eventually subsided into the gloom and died off.

It was not until the end of the summer in 2007 that the idea of this band had been ressurected. Morgan once again established the band, this time under the name of Bolero, with the help of fellow band-mates at the time, Vengeance Through Annihilation. Still clinging to the black metal element, the music took a hard turn. With the introduction of a folky-atmospheric blend, Bolero now became the side-project Morgan was always hoping to ground.

In autumn of 2007, fellow band, Mythyratus merged with Bolero under the remaining title, Bolero. Brought into the rising force was Colin Webster (lead guitar) and Al Usher (hitting shit). As of now, Bolero is constructing original material to fill a set, so expect shows in the very near future.

Early 2008 - Brought in on rhythm guitar, Casey Elliot, former guitarist of Apothecry, as well as Alex Woods on keyboards, former lead singer of Torn Black.

Bolero is:
Morgan Rider - Bass Guitar and Vocals
Colin Webster - Lead guitar
Al Usher - Smashing shit
Casey Elliott - Rhythm Guitar
Alex Woods - Keyboards

Thanks guys, the Dungeon show sounds like it might actually be fun this time since theres you guys and like a few other metal bands playing as well. Usually its just a bunch of faggot emo bands, hahaha. I'm kind of pissed that you need to bring 30 people out to the show in order to be elligable for prizes. I miss the days Supernova was based on talent :P. Anyways yea good shit boys! thanks for the comment and have a good one
