The band Minerva is inspired by this quote to create our own music and dream of having the world hear it. Led by singer Patrick Fitzgerald and undoubtedly anchored by guitarist Thomas Anweiler, drummer Shane Stevens and bassist Jake Oakley, Minerva is set on unleashing their own brand of alternative rock on the ears of those who will listen.
Minerva started as jam sessions between Fitzgerald and Anweiler in which they recreated famous songs in a less than perfect atmosphere. Their attempts at cover songs soon led them to try their hand at writing their own music which proved to be a better creative outlet for their passion of music. Quick progress was made and shortly thereafter they began searching for a bassist, later a drummer. Bassist Oakley came to the band through Minerva?s first drummer, who has since left the band. Drummer Stevens, a friend of Fitzgerald?s since high school, came to the band and brought a style and talent that would summarize the band Minerva.
The instant chemistry was evident and brought Minerva to finish their first song quickly, soon followed by their 2nd and 3rd. Since, they have never looked back. With influences such as Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Green Day, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Foo Fighters, Minerva adapted a style flavored by these artists and made it their own. No one ever said making music was easy, but driven and determined, Minerva is willing to do what it takes to be heard. Minerva is the Roman Goddess of poetry and the inventor of music and this is what Minerva is set out to do, invent music in their own way and have it be heard.
