Stones Throw

Growing up in a small rural farming town north of Calgary Alberta, Steve McMullen found his roots early meshing the likes of life on the prairies with that of the adventures to the city life close by. Using rock music as a pastime while growing up from hockey rink to hockey rink, he began honing his writing skills early. Through high school Steve played shows province wide with his band at the time. The live aspect and stage experience led him to thirst for something a little more. In 2006 he packed up and moved to Vancouver where the more vibrant rock scene seemed to suit his tastes and allow him to take his career further. After a few years of networking with some of the local industries best, and crafting with a renewed outlook on life, Steve situated himself rightfully in place to begin recording his debut album under the name STONES THROW. Keeping honest with the marriage of beat and melody, Steve explains that the internal derivative is what keeps rock music alive. “If you have something to say to the listener, be it a message or story, it doesn’t matter the approach you take. You just need to speak clearly.”
